Isabelle Delage

Like many Montreal singer-songwriters, Isabelle began honing her skills at the famed Yellow Door, first at Sunday Night Hootenannies and later on the regular roster. That is also where she discovered Canadian folk legend Stan Rogers, whose music continues to this day to provide spiritual nourishment and inspiration, more than twenty years after his tragic death.

Isabelle has been active since 2001 on the local folk scene as a co-founder and organizer of the Side Door Coffee House . This monthly event has provided a venue for countless folk, jazz, blues, country, bluegrass and celtic music performers from all over Quebec and the Northeastern United States.

A veteran of the West-Island based group Plain Folk , Isabelle has been carrying the folk music torch since those early days, writing and performing in and around Montreal. In 1999, Plain Folk recorded a CD of originals and covers with a Canadian flavour, titled Just When You Think , a line gleaned from one of Isabelle's early hits, Montreal.

Released in June 2006, Isabelle's first solo album, The Inundation, is a collection of original songs written over the span of her career, vignettes that tell stories of life, love, loss and hope. A mother of five, Isabelle draws her musical inspiration from daily life as well as historic and current events, in a vibrant, soothing acoustic sound that has earned her a very loyal following over the years.
